Generic Bulb Types for Series Vehicles.

Thanks to Tony Hedge. See the Forum for more technical information.

These are for UK spec vehicles, not sure about local differences for eg indicators.

Indicators: 12V 21W SCC/BA15s, Type 382

Stop/Tail: 12V 21/6W or 21/5W SBC/BA15d, Type 380

Side: 12V 6W or 5W SCC/BA15s, Type 207

Panel illumination/warning: 12V 2.2W MES/E10, Type 987

Indicator warning: 12V 2.2W MBC/BA9s

The SBC/SCC etc nomenclature is the older scheme - BA15 etc is newer. These describe the type of fitting - eg MES = Minature Edison Screw etc. The Type no. is common to many manufacturers, eg Lucas, Ring etc etc alll use the same type no, and is actually also a British Standard, not that that is much use to you!

Where Land Rover specified 6W and 21/6W bulbs, I don't think anyone makes these any more - use 5W and 21/5W instead.

The larger bulbs are very common, as Mark says, in current production vehicles. The smaller MBC/MES ones are less so as many current vehicles have gone over to wire-ended or push-in types, but you should be able to get those in somewhere like Radio Shack as there were commonly used in electronic equipment.
