From around 1961, we see here a transporter truck loaded with Series 2s for the export market. |
Just waiting. Taken in approximately 1965, this great picture shows John Pickford's late father surveying the River Wye in Herefordshire while the two estate Land Rovers stood patiently waiting. A wonderful atmospheric period shot. Thanks John. |

From the early 1960s we have an impressive line up of vehicles outside motor dealer Stevens & Son for delivery to Hampshire County Council. Does anyone know the current whereabouts of any of these vehicles? They're numbered 156 JOR to 161 JOR. Do you own one? |
A picture from the good old days of English motoring. Taken in about 1967 this picture shows a motorcycle patrol and Series 2 88 based patrol in Nottinghamshire. |

Andrew Underwood has sent this fascinating picture in of this unusual Land-Rover. He says, "Not much is known about this vehicle - we believe the photo was taken in the late 60's. A camera was mounted in the bucket which was operated by my friend, it was used in horse racing for the photo finishes. He told me the early version had a bicycle seat for him to sit on!" |
Here we have a couple of brilliant photos taken by the vehicle's owner, Ernest Moseley, in 1968, when the vehicle had to earn its upkeep. In the first there must be three tonnes of hay in that trailer. If you look carefully in the second, into the back of the 2a you will spot a couple of faithful hounds waiting for their master. |

A Series 2 somewhere in the desert, possibly in French West Africa as the trucks are French Berliets and the Land-Rover appears to carry French license plates. Many thanks to Antonio Pedro. |
Also sent in by Antonio this picture of Land-Rover Series 2 (Year of build 1958, Petrol 2,0L, VIN 144800475, Engine 141800901), about to depart for a small trip in Estoril, Portugal, 1961. |
Do you have any hidden archive pictures of Series 2s at work or at play in the days when they were still new? Send your e-pics to the Webmaster or original prints, which will be returned, can be sent to the Webmaster via the main Club address.
