National Service

Ever since the Wilks brothers invented the first Land Rover, the armed forces of Great Britain and many other countries have been regular customers of the marque. From the Czech Republic, Ivan Plachy has sent in this picture of his rare 1964 Swiss Army 88 with trailer air brake tank fitted.

We don't see many ex-military 2s, so it's great to receive these pictures of Rob Jones' 1964 ex-RAF FFR.

This is Rosey, owned by Meg Hearne. Despite the 'T' plate Rosey is a '61 ex-military 88.

This a beautiful example of the rare Series 2a Airportable (Lightweight) Land Rover, owned by Brian and Jill Marshall.

This is Tony Lucey's recently rebuilt ex-military 109.

This is ALF. He is a 1964 Series 2b Forward Control with Radar body from the RAF, lovingly restored by Brian Jill and Megan Marshall.

Occasionally we get updates on vehicles featured here. This is "ALF" (pictured alongside) now restored back to his original operational colours.

Mark Penn is renovating and converting this 1970 Marshall Ambulance into a very usable camper.

"Oddjob" is a former military ambulance converted by Marshall. Now he is a very spacious camper vehicle that can even handle the mud.

Mike Metivier from Georgia in the USA has submitted this picture of his brilliant Series 2 Lightweight FFR.

Designed primarily for the battlefield, this Series 2A Lightweight is equally at home on the green lanes.

Here is another picture of Tony Lucey's 109, now sporting the appropriate decals.

David and Goliath?

Here is Dennis McLaughlin's beautifully restored Australian army FFR.
