Birmabright Weekend , Kutna Hora, Czech Republic 27th - 29th May.
For those who are barking mad!

Two of us drive from the New Forest to Dover on the Thursday evening. We are booked onto the midnight ferry - because its cheaper!

They let us on to an earlier ferry, which was handy... I think?
We arrived in Calais at midnight UK time, and drive through the night all the way to Bambery in Germany.
At 3am we are pretty tired, so we stop for a cup of Tea (PG Tips of course!) - Some of us even had a horrid pot noddle!
Its now 10am - Day 1. Some engine oil is required. We have been "Cruising" at 50-55mph" along the motorways. Drivers are getting hungry, so we stop off for some breakfast. Which in Germany consisted of Sausage and chips?! - Strange.
We leave the motorway and take the A road to Bamberg. Its now around 4-5pm. We are very tired.

Looking for a B&B in Bamberg.

Bamberg Bridge. We check into a B&B for the night, but first head straight to the pub for a beer and some dinner!

One of many many petrol stations!

Entering the Czech Republic. Not much traffic here...

Arrive Kutna Hora - Day two. Approx 6pm - Beer required. At 82p a pint we couldn't complain!

We opted for the chalet accomdation on the campsite.

View from the top of a mobile phone transmitter. - For some reason you are allowed to walk up these out there...

The afternoon got more interesting..

Some good lanes through forests..

Now getting quite muddy.

Almost time to head back to the campsite, for another one of those 82p pints.

One of the many "Rail Crossings" No barriers. You have to stop and look yourself! - Mmm Dodgy..

Look right, then left!

The sight seeing tour. En route to the castle, via a local lane.

View from the castle.

Castle. Or at least I think it was at some point..

Czech Countryside.

Leaving the campsite. Monday morning.

Downtown Kutna Hora. At this point Dave and myself went our seperate ways, as I had a few extra days holiday to spare, so we continued south to Füssen in Southern Germany.

Campsite in Füssen.

En route to Neuschwanstein Castle.

And again...

We then started making our way back north via The Black Forest - Germany. Stopping off in a small town call Schiltach.

The Black Forest - Very hilly! The Land Rover was "slower" than normal..

Passing through Luxembourg.

Another petrol stop.

Cruising.. If you want to call it that!

Bastogne - Belgium.

Just outside the village of Foy. Visting the WW2 battlefield sites.

Foxholes from WW2. Battle of the Bulge. The front line was the country lane HNJ is parked on in the photo above. The 101st Airbourne held this line through the winter of 1944.

Foy, north east of Bastogne.

Getting the ferry home..
During the 2500 mile round trip neither Land Rover suffered any problems. HNJ used approx 2.5litres of engine oil. I think that was more it leaking when warm than burning oil though!
The moral of the story is that these are still very capable vehicles. Whats the worst that can happen?
