Series 2 Club International Rally 19th - 21st August - Sixpenny Handley - Dorset
Note: I've let the page template stretch for this page so I can include the higher res photos.

Thursday morning. Just after the torrential rain had decided to stop. Jules and I decide to start putting up the small NF&S Marquee.. Note firewood in trailer.

Sometime on Friday. Members from across the country start to arrive. Here we see a picture of the new South West Area Organiser. Literally within 5 minutes of arriving he has taken the seat out of his Land Rover and cracked open a beer. - Good man!

Members swap some parts. Here we see Martin 'Retro Fitting' a NATO hitch.

The South West & NF&S Corner of the field.. Friday afternoon. Thankfully the sun came out and dried everything off!

Testing out the newly fitted Capstan Winch with Chocks..

Martin and his newbly rebuilt Land Rover.

Friday night a convoy of about 35 Land Rovers head down to Poole Quay. I'm told this convoy was about 1.8 miles long. We had guys with CB's at the front and rear. Poole had a bit of a shock!

More of the convoy before leaving. Around 5pm.

Off they go...

And some more..

And a few more...

Meanwhile back at base, a few members are caught in the usual Land Rover position..

The site was so quiet with most of the Land Rovers gone.

Meanwhile... down at Poole Quay...

The Invasion commenced..

Land Rovers everywhere..

And more...

Squeezing them all in..

Friday night consisting of some serious drinking for some. Some pre-flight checks where done in time for Saturdays green laning.

I think this picture pretty much sums up how everyone felt after a long night!!

A picture of the South West Area before they've all woken up..

9am in the morning and the Green Laning Trip is set to leave. Two columns of vehicles were formed. Those who cared about their paintwork. And those who did not! Those that did care would be lead around some of the narrow overgrown lanes.

MOO as part of the Green Lane line up..

Already ready to go...

Mmmm can you guess which column is which?

Still a bit of time for a few more photos before they all head off for the day..

This column represents those who do care about their paintwork..

Green Lane trip leaving..

After a 10 minute wait, the Non Scratchy column heads on its way. Lead by Jules.

And off they go..

Meanwhile, some others are getting ready for the New Forest Tour. Here we see one of two 109" Ambulances.

Great Camper Conversion!

13 Land Rovers line up behind me for the New Forest Tour to Lymington via Burley. We plan to come back via the Ornamental Drive and Fordingbridge.

A quick stop at Picket Post services on the A31 near Burley... (Fuel Save?! In a Land Rover. Dream on!)

Somewhere near Sway we stop for a quick photo..

More photo...

And again...

Err...and again?

One more!

I lead the convoy down into Lymington to the Marina Car Park, for those who want to grab some lunch in Lymington. The rest of us head back up to the Hobler on the main road and enjoy a nice pub lunch.

At 14:30 we meet in the car park as defined earlier before heading off to Brockenhurst..

Waiting at the level crossing in Brockenhurst..

Heading out onto the Ornamental Drive

We bimble up, past Rhinefield House and towards the Deer Sanctuary.

A picture from the back of the convoy..

We stop at the Deer Sanctuary for some New Forest Ice Cream.

Buy this time its getting quite warm..

For some reason we had an ambulance on standby?

After ice cream we had across to Linwood and past the Red Shoot Inn.

Here we are at the Royal Oak in North Gorley just south of Fordingbridge.

A quick toliet break before heading back via Fordingbridge.

Meanwhile, the Green Lane trip had stopped for fuel.. Do you think they got discount for bulk purchase?

A good photo showing how uneven the lane was..

Literally - Green Laning!

Somewhere near Stonehenge..

Note: Hugh pile of stones in field on the left..

Back at base, it appears that Stuart seems to have broken his Clutch Pin. As you can see everyone is on the case in helping him fix it..

A very nice 6cyl 109"..

Series 2 Club Marquee ready for the Quiz. The bonfire and BBQ are also primed ready to feed 144 people..

Members talk about their day out on The Plain.

Meanwhile, grub is up!

....and Stuart is still fixing his Clutch Pin!

Stuart decides to bring us some wood in his Forward Control!

BBQ is full swing!

8pm ish. Everyone has eaten, and its time for the General Knowledge Quiz..

And of course a nice warm fit to sit around and drink beer..

Who is that man with the pallet?!

Midday Sunday. Line up for the photo. 43 Land Rovers I believe..

..Oh and two Series 1's.. (Prototype Series 2's)

Need a better camera!

The NF&S 109" Challenge involved seeing how far a team of 5 could pull a 109" in 60 seconds. We where going to use mine. But when Paul offered us his Ambulance we coudn't refuse!
For the record. The NF&S team came 1st, by 9ft. South West - 2nd. and Thames Valley 3rd. I think everyone else is still recovering..

General Tug of War competitions commenced. South West Area won these. Teams of 8 throughout.

NF&S Team above. A bit knackered after just pulling an Ambulance across the rally field!!

South West Team pull the Ambulance. The clock is ticking!!

Semi Finals. Tug of War. NF&S Team.

A line up of some/most of the prize winners.

A couple of photos from the line up earler in the day..
