Which insurance company ?

There are many specialist classic car/Land Rover insurers who know and understand the market. Most of the cut price online brokers and price comparers and main stream insurers quote for modern cars and do not know or appreciate (or even want the business) the various Series 2s, 2As and Forward Control vehicles.

Everyone’s insurance risk is different, even for identical twins driving the same year model living next door could get different quotes.
Age and driving experience, as well as driving record and location all go into working out a quotation. Most of these specialist insurers have different elements in their package(s). Things like agreed value, limited annual mileage, buy-back rights, breakdown recovery, foreign cover, towing cover etc. etc. Most companies will give a discount for being a member of a classic car club (which the Series 2 Club is). It’s such a personal thing, what suits one may not suit another. Only you know the cover you need. Remember, the cheapest quote may not be the best (for your needs).

For this reason the Series 2 Club can not recommend one single insurer.

We suggest that you get quotations from several of the main companies that advertise in all the Land Rover magazines, a small selection is given here.

We suggest that you contact them first and then take it from there. FJ may not give the cheapest quote for you needs but it's a starting point. Younger drivers under 25 yrs old will have great difficulty in getting a reasonable quote. For them the best advice is to have a complety standard vehicle to factory spec. As soon as engine changes, wide tyres and roll cages are mentioned, the premium will rocket..

We recommend you phone directly and speak to a real person.
Young drivers; 17, 18, 19 years old will have particular problems. Most companies will not quote for a modified vehicle. Your Land Rover has to be a standard model just as it left the factory. So that’s no V8 or 200Tdi conversions, disc brakes or big wide alloy wheels etc. etc. It takes time to build-up a good no-claims record, you have to be patient.
