Club International 2005

Club International 2004

We had never attempted an event on this scale before. Plans had been on the drawing board for nearly a year, but, despite this, the event so nearly didn't happen. Weeks of heavy rain had rendered the intended camping field near Sibbertoft (Leicestershire) into a boggy mess. Fortunately the rain stopped for a few days and we were able to move to an adjacent area. It rained on the Friday, but the Sun smiled on us on Saturday and Sunday as the following photographs testify. The sensible ones departed for home on Sunday night. Some poor souls stayed 'til Monday, when the monsoon started.

But that's another story......

Anyway here are the pictures.

The off-road course was very popular.

Keith finds a sticky bit.

"Er....Houston we have a problem."

Keith discovers how deep the water was.

Plan A.

Plan B? Or was it Plan C?

Trying to attach tow ropes.

Doubled up towing still couldn't shift the floundering 2a.

Now that's really stuck! Time for some digging.

Still digging and jacking. It's almost free.

Gathering for the official photographs.

Series 2 Fire Dept. practising pumping duties!

Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble or Grubb? Or is it Captain Flack?

If you're old enough you'll remember.

Not everyone arrived in one piece. The Rumsey's latest acquisition had a brake failure and shunted the rear of another vehicle. Fortunately the only thing hurt was Tom's pride.

AA to the Rescue!

We were camped next to the Gliding Club. Somehow the combination of old Land-Rovers and power-less flight seemed right.

Not all members brought their 2s. Tony Bessim brought his P38 Range Rover which was the only vehicle to get through the mud-hole that sunk Keith's 2a. Unfortunately the P38 was later stopped by an electrical fault.

Brian, the Forward Control, was very capable in the mud.

Foxy makes it to the top.

Off-road driving lesson from Wittsend.

Back at the campsite, muddy but happy.
