A trip to the Tip ( or Coup, here) with an old oven, assorted broken electricals and bags of general waste, a reasonable trailer load. Raining, a cheery chap wielding an umbrella on the gate, had a cursory look in the trailer, asked if there was any paint or oil, pointed me towards an empty bay with sensible reversing space behind it. Skips for metal, Timber, Garden waste and general landfill, containers for electricals, a space specific to fridges & freezers, a cage for gas bottles, a space for rubble/hardcore and a large pile of free compost, fill your own container.s.. 

Noted that the rusted out old barrows had gone, replaced with flat trollies in various sizes. Very handy. Mentioned it to the guy on the gate who said it was his idea "The barrows were a health hazard, its my Coup, I'll look after it".

Decent attitude and yes the place was neat and tidy, ....not looking like a tip !

Great to hear this Gene!  Might be useful to feed your comments through to those responsible for the tip (with a copy for "cheery chap"), and to whoever provides the service.  I did this at our tip, and have never had a day's problem in over 20 years of using it. 

How are Tips organised in Scotland?  Is it the same as England, where they are a County Council's responsibility, but are outsourced to private waste contractors?

^^^^ Stirling Council runs its own waste operation, I'm not sure about the other 31 "Local" Authorities.

....and yes, I've already asked who I should be sending a "well done" email to.

It lives... Arrived here as a non runner with a desperate need for a new chassis and bulkhead early last year. Finally got the engine running today. Haven't actually touched the engine or gearbox. Engine a bit rumbly so probably heading for a bottom end rebuild, but aside from that it runs like a sewing machine. Really smooth and sweet, so almost there. Just got to build up some doors, fix the seat box and under seat locker and then the de-snagging process can begin. Everything else has been rebuilt, but the brief was to keep as much of the old LR character as possible.
I finally might be about to get my workshop back!

Only slight issue is that I reworked the original springs, so it sits up nicely now. So nicely that I'll have to let the tyres down to get it out of the workshop...

a 160 mile round trip to Ely and back,.

A 150 mile round trip to Fife and the "Bacon & Brakes" Classic Car meet. 4-5 S2C members in attendance and a couple of other Landrovers including a genuine Camel Trophy 90. There must have been well over 100 other Classics there, people milling about chatting, a lovely morning. I found myself parked almost beside a Jaguar XK supposedly once owned by Liz Taylor, or was it Richard Burton....

Stripped the remaining gearbox of the four bought for bits last week.

Think I found the reason for the ‘not working’ one 🤣🤣

Made a transfer box dipstick from a spare engine one and some spare fuel fittings 😎

Had a run down the Clyde valley to pick up some garden stuff, got a friendly wave from a guy in a nice Triumph Stag in British racing green and another wave from someone in a VW Golf GTI Mk2.

Smiling all the way there and all the way back    but then had to plant the stuff....

Not today but Friday and Saturday spent the days at Heskin Steam and Vintage Show on the club stand. Weather was initially wet on friday and think that put a few off plus it's normally a two day event but this year with the extra bank holidays they stretched it to four days. Was nice to catch up with some old faces and a couple of days out in the fresh air.

I can agree with Andy as I was there too, on my own on the Friday and with my family on the Saturday.  I managed to find a 1 pint mug with a picture of a S2 on it and an Optimus 8R almost brand new (but probably 40 years old) at a sensible price.

There was a Faun Goliath 8 wheeled tractor unit there.  The biggest road going one I have ever seen - it's fuel consumption 2mpg.  It was the one shown in the photo

Mine went in for it's MOT today and came out with another twelve month ticket. although a couple of advisories to sort for next time. And first time ever it was also mentioned as an advisory about the underseal. I do understand why, just never been mentioned before.
