The sump plug is "normal" thread - anti-clockwise. ...
That's a little confusing in these circumstances.
Because the sump plug points upwards, to loosen it (the action required here) the plug needs to turn clockwise, as viewed from beneath the car.

Regards.

No, no, no. You only use a ratchet spanner one way to undo bolts, whatever their orientation.

Fitted 2 headlight relays, and ordered a new battery, as the existing only has 12v in it, even after charging.

??? Lying under the vehicle you will still be turning the plug anti-clockwise when looking at it.

Except on some left hand side wheel and hub fasteners on old British sports cars (left hand thread to prevent them undoing themselves when going forwards - not sure about reversing?)

Oops - OT again.......

We will have to rein you in...! Yes... plenty of examples which disprove that rhyme, but if anybody can show me an engine sump plug that undoes clockwise, I might be forced to jemmy open my wallet and buy them a pint.

Hmmmm.....

If the plug's on the left side of the sump and for some reason you crawl under from the right, it will appear from your frame of reference as if you're turning the plug clockwise to undo it. From the plug's point of view it still turns anticlockwise.

Of course if your garage's  clock is one of these.....

I need a new clock for the garage. Where did you get it Herald1360. Am I right in assuming you have a Triumph Herald 13/60?!

Got myself a little rubber stamp of my LR taken from a picture, which i ordered on a whim and wasn't expecting much tbh. Very pleased with the detail, although my wife didn't share that view when I used her bare arm as a testing surface... :tiphat

Had severe Spaniel trouble... Liver and White Springer appeared in the house with a huge black EP90 streak all down her back...
The coolest shadiest spot at our house was under a temporary resident 2A... SWMBO not impressed. EP90 smelling carpet and side of sofa. So far the clean-up has taken nearly 3 hours and the dog still stinks of EP90 after two washes...

Now I know what those poor people feel like cleaning up sea birds after an oil spill.  :thud

Land Rover banished to my garage.
