Got my cylinder head back from the engineering shop.

After some paint I have the head back on

Went for a drive  to check the overdrive. With it 'out' no more than the usual noises. With it 'in' there was the sound of meshing gears but only at about 30 mph and above. Slower speeds and it seemed fairly quiet. I think therefore that it's OK and the noises are from the gears bedding themselves in as they were disturbed from their previous meshing when I rebuilt it. I'll run it for a few miles and see if the noise decreases, or I might just get used to it.

Fitted the injectors ...

I don't remember this "gap".
The injector(s) can't go in any further.
The ends are sitting on the correct copper and steel washers.

I assume this is correct, can someone please confirm

Then I can bolt them down.

I know mine is an earlyish Ser 111 but I have the same injectors, and gap, Alan.

Collected a “lightweight” chassis for a friend!

Sat behind a lorry all the way back down the A1 doing 56mph and did the best part of 40mpg with that on the roof!

Used it as a shed, to store the strimmer out of the rain showers. Saves taking the strimmer back to the actual shed every time it rains

 

Edit. Loss of the little bolt holding the blade guard on stops play. It looks to be something silly like M5. Of course I have lots of M6 and 1/4 UNF but they are just that bit too big. That old-school Hardware shop is what i need now.... Same issue has happened before. This time I'll loctite the bolt in place !

You know when you are looking forward to a little job. Short in time needed but big in satisfaction .
So i went to replace the oil in our 2a resto last night.
To get to the point couldn't get the sump plug to move.
Its going to need my half inch socket bar with an extension surely thats not right.
i even phoned my mechanic mate up to check it wasn't left hand thread ( cant print his reply )
So relieved my frustration with a little body sanding

So i went to replace the oil in our 2a resto last night.

Its going to need my half inch socket bar with an extension surely thats not right.

The sump plug is "normal" thread - turn anti-clockwise to undo.

Very important to have the correct size socket - nothing sloppy.
Heat and Plus gas should help.

When fitting the (new) sump plug, use a new copper washer. It should only need hand tightening and a bit more with a hand spanner.
No extension bars needed 

If it's leaking oil, you probably have some grit in the threads or damaged threads.
