Having just gained an almighty stone chip in my N/S window, and already had a couple of repairs to chips on the O/S one (which hasn't worked properly for a number of years since a significant impact with a pigeon on the motorway), I suppose I'd better commit to a pair too. I'll send you a PM to confirm. Thanks, Glen.

To anyone who has posted on this thread in the past week.

I am now back from the Amazon so once I have recovered from the jet-lag I will be in touch requesting details. I will also be starting to sort out payment in the next couple of days; I will hopefully get this completed within a couple of weeks and then I will place the order in early March.

Cheers

Alec

Perhaps getting a bit ahead of myself, but I'd like to start thinking about what is required for fitting the windscreens when they arrive.

Is there a definitive guide to fitting and or/ recommended preparation/ primer /sealants to source etc?

The attached is a good starting point.

Dumdum is no longer available  :'(
There are some very good alternatives that I'm sure people on here can recommend.
Screwfix sell a good selection.

Since the notes were written....
Robin of this parish sells a combined relay timer that switches the screen(s) off after a set time, so you don't have to worry about leaving them on.

And, if you can, fit the screens, then lay the frame flat for a few days to allow the sealants to set fully. This should stop the glass sinking down into the bottom of the frame.

As this is starting to get ‘real’, the installation instructions have raised a question in my mind....

I have a Tropical roof fitted - is it ‘just’ a case of undoing any bolts along the front edge of the roof and then swinging the screen down as per a soft-top, or will I need to raise the roof to get the screen down?

Thanks.

Undo the screen to roof bolts.

Then I got a batten of wood and with a bottle jack (and another length of timber) on the passenger side floor - I jacked the front end of the roof up a fraction.
There's enough "give" in the system to do this.

You'll then find it easier to persuade the screen to fold down. The rubber sealing strip will probably be stuck and need freeing with a paint scraper.
You may want to replace with a new rubber sealing strip.

(note: if you have a tilt, you can leave the shark's tooth rail in place, disconnect the door top rails and bring the whole lot inside to fit the electric screens.)

Hi All,

Nobody has missed the deadline - I flew back from Colombia and went straight back to work, so jet-lag meant I didn't get anything done in the evenings. I am pretty much recovered now so today I will be contacting people who have expressed an interest and also moving things forward with regard to payment.

Cheers

Alec
