Not this year, but out for a drive in the Shorland.

Hi,

OT-ish! I used to own seven and a half acres in the Swansea Valley, where kept an assortment of equines, including two donkeys. One donkey insisted on poking his head in through the Landy's door window, and point blank refused to remove it, making it difficult to go home.

My two GSDs, on the other hand, insisted on poking their heads out of the Landy's window, and refused to pull them in.

Somewhere, I have a photo, taken in my top field, of my S1 LWB (at that time I didn't know there were two wheelbases). Can I find that photo? Can I "thingy"!

Difficult to measure intelligence in any thing. If a dog doesn't want to do something is it because it is too stupid to understand or does it understand what you have asked and has worked out that actually it would prefer not to do as asked as is quite happy doing what it is at the time. We have exams but not all people are academically bright. Some people can revise and will spend months revising and get a good result. Someone else might have read something once and just passed. If the person who previously revised hard only got to read it the once how well would they do??

I would agree. Other than owning my own, and not many, I've cited how this dog seems to work out what's in his interests. Yet in doing so, reveals grey-matter I'm not used to seeing in a dog. My question was, is what I'm seeing fairly humdrum, making the previous mutts pretty dim, or is this dog as sharp as I have it?

They're very good at observing you and working out how you tick, then adapting this knowledge to advantage... If you think about it this is must be a long evolved survival aid, applied to the context of living with 'us'
I recall some experiment with a dog where this particular individual (female Alsatian I perhaps think), was able to grasp the idea of being shown a picture of an object, then go to another room and fetch that actual object...this shows a fine degree of abstract thought I'd say.
That particular dog was no doubt a very talented individual but shows what's possible, it's likely that you could train a gifted one from a young age to do quite amazing stuff if you could devote a lot of time, and you knew what you were doing!

Hi,

Watching a program about Japanese "ban" dogs, on TV. One dog leapt at the camera.

"Ki", my wimp of a GSD. Met him "nose to nose" (hard) at the TV screen.

One of my horses did not like crossing white lines on the road. One day, she looked down, and "threw a wobbly". She was standing in the middle of "BUS STOP"

Bertie's even growing his beard just to get the Series look!

Think we may need a LWB if he grows anymore though.

One of my best photos.
Sadly, Ruby, in the middle, died a year ago.
I still have the other two, Sapphire and Lady.

I have gained (Rescued) another doggie.
This is Dolly the Cocker Spaniel along with Sapphire the Springer..
Dolly is enjoying her second ever ride out in the Landy. She seems to like the Landy.
