So this is where I got too?
« on: March 12, 2020, 09:11:26 PM »

Hi Wittsend,

Found it!

I wondered where you'd hidden me.

Should I be honoured? Or is it some sort of "naughty stool"?

Definitely, I'll be regularly perusing 602s musings as I'm sure will many others!

Hi Allan,

Seeing as my project is not going ahead, is now the time to close this subject.

I will remain grateful.

No, I think we'd like to keep it going for your more off-topic musings.

I'm sure another "project" will be along soon.

Hi Alan,

I'm most grateful, and you are the boss. On the other hand ... my mind is currently blank, project wise ... but no doubt I will recover. I'd still like to build a "dinky" ... it helps to pass the time

Our current priority is to knock a hole in the bathroom wall, and extend out across the "alley" between bungalow and brick-built garage ... should turn our 5ft x 6ft "shower" room (originally a bathroom) into a (9ft x 6ft) bath, basin, hi-level WC bowl (disabled friendly), and retain the existing shower, which ought to be wheel-in, but the WC gets in the way. Our builder even says I can have a "scatter-can" (porcelain thingy for gentlemen only) to save water. The builder reckons about £15,000, if the garage roof is blended into the bungalow roof, or appreciably less if we would accept a flat roof over the link.  If push comes to shove, the posh version is managable (at 4%). As part of our plan is to leave something useful to our daughter, we will be trying for a grant.

Our builder is a lovely bloke (Irish ... with a degree), but we have difficulty getting him to present his accounts. He just says he knows we are "good for it". He's now a family friend.

Hi,

My membership has expired, and I seem unable to post a new mail, although (I hope) I can respond to old mails, like what I'm doing now.

Pretty please, can somebody email me (or Barbara on [email protected] and tell us how to renew, in words of one sylble.

You should email our Membership Secretary, Gene on [email protected]

or phone him on 07761 708696

I'd suggest tomorrow as it's getting late now.

The details you (or anyone else with membership problems) need are always printed in B2L under Club Contacts inside the back cover. In the last issue, Winter 2020 they are on Page 52, bottom LH corner.

The information is repeated HERE in the very top section on the forum.

John,

Check your email - probably in SPAM - and you'll find a fortnightly reminder email .....   But never mind, go to the main website www.Series2club.co.uk, hit the "How to Join" tab and then "Renew"... and so on.  Takes Cards, Paypal, Direct Debit and Cheques.  ....and the "you are overdue" letter will pop through the letterbox soon, it was posted yesterday.

Hi Both,

Thanks for your concerns and advice. I am not fitted for the modern world.

In fact, I'm so grateful, I'd come and clean your boots ... but my tongue has run dry.

I think I'll wait till Barbara gets out of her "reesting pit", let her do the honours. I'm not good on the phone ... I can't hear you. (OT - my hearing aids used to spend overnight in a Japanese bowl, on my bedside cabinet, along with a load of expired batteries. Mistake, I think. I suspect that the "cleaners" disposed of the batteries ... along with the hearing aids (£1,000 each).  Lovely ladies, and I didn't get on with the ear-plugs anyway, so I haven't asked. I won't bother replacing the hearing aids.

I understand that today is the day that Social Services come to erect the ramps, so that Barbara can get out of the house. She has been physically house bound * since the day before lock-down ... just a three inch high threshold across the bottom of both exterior doors, immediately followed by the original two six inch high steps down. If you are having new uPVC doors fitted, think about a potential future need to get a wheel-chair through the door, and pay the extra. At least this job is below the £6,000 "means testing" barrier. (PM me if you need that explained)

* Barbara needed a doctor, so phoned the Surgery. The Surgery sent an ambulance round ... either the driver or his mate gave her an injection. (and here she was, hoping for a blonde, sun bronzed Adonis Para-medic, in shorts, riding a big motor-cycle).  :'(

Hi Genem,

WRONG!

Phone call at 08.00hrs from Social Services ... or maybe the construction crew? ... saying they would not be keeping the 09.00hrs appointment.     ???

My last two teeth (front lower incisors) are crumbling away, starting to get painfull to prod. The dentist I'm registered with doesn't answer the phone. The private dentist just down the road quoted £500. (The dentist in France, some years ago, had the next tooth along, snapped off at gum level. out within a couple of hours, charged me 22 euros.

Not my day.

Hearing aids:

Why are you spying for these.

The NHS will have an audio clinic at the hospital.
Your GP should be able to get you an appointment.
Might be a delay under the current circumstances.

They will do all the tests, set you with a custom moulded ear piece(s) and you get free batteries for life !

Just a phone call away.
