J E E P as a swear word
« on: August 03, 2019, 04:33:07 PM »

Do we want to keep the forum "joke" running and replace J E E P with £%(*^$  ???
(cor that was quick, my admin partner has cocked up this topic  ;)  )

The censored word list has to be compliled manually - they is a way to hack the code, but I think there are more important issues to fix.
We will add words manually as they crop up ....

It is a forum offence to use and litter your posts with expletives.
It is also a forum offence to try and circumvent the word censor.

This new forum has a warning system whereby errant users can be warned and have privilages removed  :-\

Much better to say  £%(*^$ and readers can put their own favourite word to the post.

Happy for any jokes to lie in wait.... I will move the words across though, just that it's tedious  :-X :-X

We have a similar problem with people trying not to type "Britpart" and/or referring to Britpart as something else or stuff that comes in "Blue Boxes".

...or

Halfords as Halfords (or is it the other way round)

Very funny when you read it for the first time - but after 20 years  :thud
The joke wears thin ....

As I say, I'll recreate the list as it is at the old place and if we want to change or prune it here we can do.

The source of the name got muddied in history but I like the one about it meant Just Enough Essential Parts to make a working vehicle and I recon Rover did just that when they were building our Land Rovers.

I LOVE the joke, it tickles my funny bone!   :first

Over on the Guns-&-Rovers forum here in the Sates they call you "childish" and suggest you "grow up" because real adults can say "Jeep" instead of "J**p".   :agh   :thud

It's nice to know, you love us all really. Micky Taking is what we brits are about. If I grew up, I'd be getting too old. Best I stay a child.

there is nothing wrong with series 0 Land Rovers, but I do a few cross country runs with them , organisers  usually put the Land Rovers at the rear with tow ropes to recover series 0s that fail

Exactly... who says one is required to "grow up" as one grows old!!!  A couple years ago SWMBO and I had some friends over for a bone fire.  Like usual I was doing something very "unadult".  One of her friends made a comment about guys never growing up and SWMBO said "I like being married to Peter Pan".
