Random engine stamps

I've just removed the flywheel housing and found some lovely random letters stamped into the block. Could these have meaning or are they just a gift from the Rover people. Or the army engineers that likely changed the demon oil seal. As far as I can see there is a K,Y, C, Z, faint B and upside down M.
