Insurance During Rebuild - Land Rover SORN

Insurance During Rebuild - Land Rover SORN ???

Having read some posts on Land Rover Insurance may/may not require MOT.   I checked my policies and they say MOT if a legal requirement, all my Land Rovers are 61 or before for the MOT clause is ok.   But then the policy says 'keep vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition'

I am asking my insurance company Heritage......    But I would be interested in any views and experience how others are insuring their Land Rovers whilst being on SORN and or being rebuilt?

Previously I'd have said not to bother but having read two stories in recent months of people losing their rebuild/stored vehicles to fires, I might change my mind !

I insure two of my projects along with two that are roadworthy (well, one on the road and the other nearly) on a multi-car policy.

Even though the others are nowhere near road legal, as said ^^^ fire is always in the back of my mind so worth it, in my opinion.

There's also the chance of theft, even for a project locked away in a garage - if it can be rolled, it can be stolen!

I have insured mine with NFU with a laid up policy. Its for a vehicle that wont be driven. £30.00 for the year.

I have my 'project' insured as 'Fire and Theft' with Footman James. Didn't add more than a few pounds to the regular policy.
