Fixing my exhaust manifold (will update that thread later). Helicoils have finally worked.
But getting sidetracked by cutting the grass and also doing the 25-metre Leylandiii hedge, and picking plums, which will take most of the day, so I may not get to finish the LR job today :(

Took her for a ride to the seaside, longest run out she’s had for a while. Loved it, although the east coast was a bit chilly, definitely should of took the door top rather than leave it in the garage!!

Planned to do some wiring related jobs today but the sun was shining and it looked a good day for getting on with building work on the extension, while the forecast is rain tomorrow - a better day for spending time in the shed :-)

Replaced the o-rings in both lock-out hubs, and finally found the leak on my new engine (oil return line from the head to the block, behind the head) that means I now have no active leaks on the truck, so it's time for something else to break.

Reinstalled the headliner in my pu cab. Originally, the plan was to replace the 60 + year old vinyl with new but the difficulty with sewing up new especially with the long vinyl tubes that went into two hoops, I soon ditched that plan and just decided to glue new vinyl over the tears, with backing pieces on the inside.
I then tried to clean off what I first thought was rust, but I now believed was about 35 years of nicotine.

All in all, it doesn't look really all that bad and I am quite pleased with the outcome.

9am and the rebuilt engine has been installed and bolted up.  A good start to the day.

Removed the roof from the truck top and extracted the window channel fabric and applied a lot of penetrating oil ahead of trying to remove the small screws that hold the channels in place They seem to be very rusty...

Ready to start to remove the paint from the goal post frame and the roof rim to bring back to the original galvanised finish. I’m mulling over using some of my leftover limestone paint on the roof lid to help reflect the sun - Anyone else done this?

Used the handbrake. Having replaced the binding brake shoes, I now find that a SII can roll. This is a new experience. I can push it now in the garage!! :-*

Changed the engine oil and checked all the transmission related levels, one front swivel leaking slightly between the backplate and the swivel housing.

Also fixed the recalcitrant bonnet catch.

My wife surprised me, by saying that I could fit the petrol tank to Pickles, if I wanted!  :agh :agh :agh

So I did! Bit of a struggle, as I have Tennis/Golf/Archer's elbow, made getting the new rubber filler hose on awkward!
It has a bit of a kink, as it was a little too long, but it'll just fill slower!

Now I need some petrol, I'll have to get the sister-in-law, to go to the garage for me, I'm still in quarantine, then I can drive Pickles around the field!

Investigated the stiff steering I was experiencing at the weekend.

Pulled it all apart, the swivels seemed OK, the TREs were OK, the steering box was full of oil, slight play (adjusted out with the nut), but the relay seemed a bit stiff. Took the top off, and using a piece of scrap part 571218 (bronze bush that breaks in the gearbox), pressed the conical bushes down. Result - relay now turns smoothly.

Drove up to Masham yesterday camping at the Old Station (we decamp into a tent rather than sleep in Big Ears the Dormy). Drove into Masham todayto fill up and parked in the market place. Approached by a cyclist"did we have a 10mm Alan key as the pedal crank had come loose". People assume that those who drive 50 year old Land Rovers must have a tool box with them. Alan key duly lent and bike repaired.
