NADA & US Spec
« on: September 10, 2019, 04:58:37 PM »

Since day one of ownership I've heard, and been told, about NADA & US spec.  However, I can't seem to find any solid information listing exactly what comprises this, nor the dates each item became part of it.  Do any of you know where a list of the items, and dates, can be found?

I do have a September 1963 sales sheet and it only lists two items as "Mandatory Accessories for U.S.A." - the dual oil pressure & water temp gauge and a passenger side windshield wiper.

There's only one standard item listed, that I've been told was mandatory, and that's the 16" tires.

I do have a 1966 brochure as well and it lists a lot more.  These are specifically listed as NADA and US spec.

I don't think there is a list per say. Just that in the parts books different numbers are listed for NADA vehicles.

There is a rather detailed list in the 1966 brochure.  I'm pressed for time at the moment but will write up the list.

When I first got my Rover I was told "sealed beam headlights" were mandatory, at least for the US, but haven't found when this happened.  It is interesting to see just how many things people say they have heard were manditory.

Not really talking about parts list; I have parts books listing parts for used in the UK, US, Germany, France and so on right next to each other - mostly in the lighting section.

I'm looking for the specific items became a requirement for importation to NA and the US specifically as well as when they became a requirement.  Examples, sealed beam headlights and when were they required to go on the wings and not the grille.

Here's an example of what I'm looking for.  The two pics have been cropped from an April 1966 sales brochure.

The last pic is just showing basic info for those imported in to the US.

Here is a two page version from 1963.  Note that there are very few "requirements" listed, but 16" tires are listed as standard.  This is the same year as my Rover.
