Just about on topic, because the RNLI do use Land Rovers.
Heard today on TV, that the RNLI get so much money in donations, that they have been giving it away to OTHER charities, without any permission from the original donor. I was horrified by this. They have been closing Lifeboat stations over the last decade, I assumed this was because they were short of money.
I have been a great supporter of this charity for many years, but I am now considering ending my donations.

A similar situation emerged a few years ago with Guide dogs for the blind..........

This from the Daily Mirror, more in the Independant.

The RNLI has made a strong defence of its work after people stopped donating to the charity because it used funding to save lives abroad and provide burkinis in Africa.

Earlier this week it was reported that the life saving organisation spends £3.3m of donations a year in other countries.


The information inspired people to take to Twitter to declare their time supporting the charity was over.

Furious funders of the organisation flooded the RNLI's Twitter feed expressing disgust that some of their money had been spent saving non-British lives.

The offending work included projects in Zanzibar helping Muslim women to swim in modesty protecting burkinis, and in Bangladesh where life guards were funded to try to save some of the 40 children who drown a day in the country.

I think they have been closing stations because they have been rolling out a faster boat, I'm pretty sure the old boats did about 9 knots which is quite slow. I do know one thing for sure about 4 years ago they moved the boat construction in house to Poole as previously the were constructed at a yard in Lymington.

I don't think this is the place to discuss what or how the RNLI spend their donations.

No one from the RNLI will ever see anything posted here.
There must be better places for people to post their concerns.
