UE reg ?
« on: May 09, 2021, 09:19:18 AM »

Just wondering if the UE part of the registration is, or could be, significant ?

I suspect not, but one or two (eg HUE) seem to have been "factory"

I have 568 CUE temporarily residing in my garage. Looke to have every optional extra for expeditions, heater, 2 wipers, oil/water gauges, winch, inside and outside spare wheel fittings, visor

In fact virtually identical to Barbara Toy's first Dormobile

UE was a Warwickshire plate, back in the 50s and 60s. They used UE, AC XC, and NX occasionally as factory plates.  :cheers

XC was allocated to Solihull Borough Council , when it became an issuing authority in 1964 , instead of being in Warwickshire . Warwick record office still have their registration books, it may be worth checking to see who registered 568 CUE, to see if it was the Rover Company.  I checked a Rover P4 110 for a chap in Holland, turned out it was an ex Rover Co. vehicle used at Earls Court motor show

Gaydon hold the factory reg books, so not difficult to check. They often (not always) include details such as engine number.

going back to the vehicle in question, it was due tax in jan 1979, so one presumes that it only had a life of 16 years before being taken off the road, unless it spent some time in foreign climes and no-one bothered to inform the authorities
Mileage of 50k could well be there or there abouts, plus it was quite easy to take apart and there was lots of sand in the rear light protectors

I am trying to get onto the MROC archive gallery but it appears to have been hidden, access on request.

I am sure there may have been a xxx CUE reg 2a in that, I think it was a sand coloured 109 if my memory serves me correctly.

Hi,

I read UE in the index, and promptly translated it into United Emirates.  :stars

I'll get my coat.
