I have been scraping off silver (zinc?) paint from the cappings and other galvanised parts. Much more authentic and less bling

Went to drop it at the mechanic's for the MOT tomorrow and it started then stopped. Earthing on the electric fuel pump decided to play up
Quick fix up with spanners and washers and all was good.

Hi,

I tied a 50mm wide webbing strap round round one of the vindictive thorn bushes in my front garden boundary, and dragged it out, roots and all, with the Freelander.  Some of the others might need a Series with a LO box.

Yesterday, I diverted to the little M&S Mini-Mart cum fuel station, on the A421 out of Bletchley (Gibbo will know it), and poured £65 of liquid gold (diesel) into the Freelander.  It's been along time since I did that.

After its first long trip to the northeast over the bank holiday, I found the steering pretty vague on faster motorways.

So today I’m going to remove the steering box from my restored 88 and have a look inside. It’s one of the few things I deemed as serviceable and just refitted without a strip down.

The big clue that tells me all is not good is the top column bearing started squeaking loudly on the journey.

Well we have another 12 months on the MOT. Passed this morning and no advisories.  :RHD :-*
Also the other day I realised I'd not had the tax reminder So I had to tax online using the V5c Normally the reminder has turned up and I have gone online with the number they send.

That was easy. 45 minutes and it’s out. It’s really a joy to work on a newly restored car, no mud, no oil, no seized bolts. Pure pleasure. 👍

Possibly for it rather than with it but collected the new chassis from Richards today. Now it’s going to a local fabricator to have the same modification Carmichael did to the centre third where it will have a top frame actually welded on, before it can be galvanised

Ordered some seals at 15.09. Blanchards emailed to say they were shipped at 15.24.

More again today! I think it looks much better.

Not today but last week, I finally fitted the period correct deep sills that I bought about four years ago!

Removed the rattle from the door-top windows with some new felt channel.

Hopefully the drive to Ripon will be a bit quieter !

A nice spin to work in the early hours of this morning. Even nicer coming home with sun shining windows and vents all open.
