Not Series but it is Land Rover...
« on: June 11, 2021, 01:14:16 PM »

and the info is my Defender was stolen last night almost 10 years to the day since I bought it. We are rural and no noise, didn't hear a thing, even the dogs didn't bark.

No need for this to turn into any Defender discussion but just a timely reminder to keep an eye on things....

I hate to read this.

As we are both on Defender2 forum, we know just how often this happens - and unfortunately how seldom the scum thieves get caught.

Nonetheless, I wish you good luck in recovering your property. :tiphat

Thanks appreciate it. Waiting for an engineer's call at the moment but not really sure what happens next....

stripped for parts, or loaded into containers and shipped to africa/middle east.

My Nissan Patrol was stolen in Australia.
Police said its highly unlikely it will be recovered.

fortunately 36hr later it was recovered.
unfortuantely they had allready stripped roof rack, tooling, campaign supplies, car fridge our of it (was stolen just after we returned from a 1 week 4WD trip).

good reminder indeed

Years ago our 110 SW was stolen off a friends driveway while my wife was visiting them overnight. The Police told her it was almost certainly on the ferry to Northern Ireland before she realised it was gone....  A fight to get the Insurers to pay its real value ensued, eventually we realised their assessment was based on a "van" body rather than a Station Wagon.

I am hoping NFU live up to their reputation and it's not too hard a task...

One comment I will make is regarding the Smartwater stuff, both the Police and Insurers said the same thing when I mentioned it; "What's that?". Makes me think that wasn't worth bothering with.......

Sorry to hear of your loss, it isn't pleasant.

However, in the last few weeks Stilton has caught a serious criminal, rainbow bed sheets have stopped a neo Nazi and less recently there's Al Capone's lack of a tax return.
It only takes one small piece to turn up in the wrong place for questions to be asked and a switched on copper to join the dots, keep Smart Watering!

I just accepted the insurance offer so credit where credit's due and my reasons for paying a little more and insuring with NFU have been justified as far as I am concerned.
No hassle whatsoever which is how I guess it should be but having heard and read of horror stories I know it's not always the case.

Obviously sorry to hear of your loss but, as I have posted on assorted fora previously, the NFU have a deservedly good reputation which is one less headache.

Not unrelated but Kate and I were in the top filed dragging the pooh hoover round behind the tractor and observed two persons of dubious background park a pickup behind our shed and quite brazenly get out and observe the vehicles parked between the shed and the house including the 110 c/w Ifor Williams trailer.

We park all but the Zoe in the sheds overnight anyway but have gone back to locking the personnel access doors again.......

Regards

Richard

Can't be too safe. I never thought anything could go from here without us knowing about it but we were well and truly proved wrong....

Hi,

This reminded me of the story of the pig with three legs.

To precis, the pig had woken the family when the house was on fire, saved the daughter from drowning in the duck pond, and interrupted an attempt to steal the farm tractor.

When you have a pig that good, you can't eat all in one go.

Time to get my coat?
