They are still sending out notifications for the 70 year olds' renewal.

You don't need a new photo or identification documents, you can renew online.

I had to try their online "assistant" as their standard Form couldn't cope with 2 digits of the postcode having been changed during the last 10 years.

It asked me loads of questions which I duly filled in.

Then it said it was transferring me to an advisor.

Then, after all that box ticking and at the VERY end, it said that "Due to industrial action by the PCSU, no advisor is available. Please click the close button.)

Could they not have put that at the TOP? >:D >:D

So I've had to send my licence to Swansea.

Cue it getting lost, and me having to speak to someone - if they are not on strike.....

Hi Exile,

First instruction, at top of form to be filled it. READ ALL THE FOLLOWING BEFORE ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS.

Hands up those who start answering the questions anyway.

Final instruction, several pages later. IGNORE ALL PRECEDING QUESTIONS.

DVLA are on strike 14/18  June. I' m waiting for them to take the registration off my MG and put it on retention so I can sell the car.

Did you do it online or send papers? I thought it was all automatic if done online.

I tried on line but a message came up telling me I  could do it only by post. I've since found out that because the MG is in the Historic tax class registration number transfers/retentions have to be done by post. A mate had the same when he wanted to sell his Lotus and put the number on retention.
I don't know why it applies to historic vehicles but it does.

I know if its been a late conversion , registrations are not transferable , but there is a marker on the V5C to that effect.

Amazingly I bought the S3 on Monday, and the seller put the log book change online. Brand new V5 arrived in the post this morning. I don’t know how but being on strike seems to have made them more efficient not less……. Usually 3 weeks is more like it than 3 days.

accordingly to the PCS union website , it is their members who staff the inwards mail proceesing who are on strike.
so i guess that with no postal enquiries any staff that are working have less to do....

That would make sense. I guess if anyone has any online stuff to do with them now is the week to put in, as there must be a backlog to shift once the post starts getting through again
