Afternoon All, Does any one know of a manufacturer of seat covers for a Series  3 ? After suffering third degree leg burns from the black vinyl this afternoon I feel I need a set or stop driving 🚗 in my pants

A tip from the tropics was to put a towel/cloth over the seats/steering wheel to stop the vinyl from burning you.

I'm in the process of making a drivers seat to give more leg and stomach room, about 3"
I have the plywood and many layers of foam in various density in place and have been looking for a fabric to cover this and being aware of hot sticky fake leather from my 86"''s
I went to Aberkhan in Flintshire which may be close to some of you. They had off cuts of a fabric pictured 1.5 m wide at £1 a metre, I bought a number of these off cuts up to 3.7m long so in future I could do other seats in this tough fabric which seems to be the same they do coach seat in. When I was there on Thursday they had a number of pieces in the outside racks

Old people’s Beaded seat covers.
My parents had them in their car, and over time they started to produce what can only be described as fine sawdust, (The seat covers, not the parents ) and then the twine holding them together started to give up the ghost.
Not for me, I’m afraid.

I have a mate at work who hates a hot botty, so whenever I go to pick him up in the summer, I set his heated seat to level three...

   I have had lots of convertibles and the towel trick or just tipping the seat forward seems to work well.
  A friend had the seat vinyl of his freshly restored TR-6 melted by the sun reflecting onto the seat from the rear view mirror. Now I also tip the mirror up when I park with the roof down.

I got a car upholsterer to cover up my original elephant hide with proper auto grade leather.  The elephant hide was in fairly good condition, so I thought it a good idea to try to preserve it a bit.....

I can't remember what it cost, (not a huge amount) but although the seats do get warm, they're not as sweaty as sitting directly onto vinyl.  The seats resist the odd shower of rain, and are actually pretty comfortable for me.

I'm glad I did it.

being broard in the beam section I've opted for 2 wider seats and a cubby tray rather than 3 front seats, works for me

The original front seat in mine are a bit rough and the four, rear jumb seats aren't that much better.  All of them have been stored away for future restoration.  Currently Grover has a set of the SIII Deluxe installed.

Do any of you know of a website, or individual, that has sewing patterns for seat covers that will fit these?  I'm wanting to go with a canvas duck cloth, but need a pattern.
