I have obtained a NOS boot handle for a car I am restoring (similar to a catflap lock).
Unfortunately it came with no key. Usually the key number is stamped on the "keyface" of the lock, or on the square operating shaft, but not in this case

To remove the lock part (which should be stamped) I first have to grind off the "peening" on the square shaft so I can get at a small pin that has to be removed. After all that I still may be unable to remove the barrel without a key in it! It is definitely an FP key.

Normally there as always at least one stall at an auto jumble with a full range of keys to try, but not with covid restrictions in Wales. Apparently they made FP626 to FP750 

Any autojumblers out there with a full set of keys? I suppose I could just drill the barrel out, but it seems a shame.

I have a FP715 which opens the rear door on my 86" SW, a "Rootes" key, it seems to open other locks as well

I doubt these locks were high security

When I was in short trousers we had a Vauxhall Victor, key FP715. Years later a Series 2 arrived, same key.

If you can get the barrel out it is quite easy to make a key if you get a blank from a hardware store. Just put the bank key in and measure the position of the 'tumblers?' sticking proud of the barrel. Taking each one in turn file down the key until the tumbler is flush. Repeat for each tumbler joining the different sections of the key profile with a slope.

I managed to pick my catflap handle open with a screwdriver and some wire after a couple of attempts because it came with no key. This might be more difficult for you though as a NOS one won't be as worn

There is a chap who usually attends Mark Woodward's  Malvern Show who has virtually full sets of keys.  Found a key  from him to fit an early S2 Zeni door lock. That was an MRN series key.
 I used a firm  near London to make a key for my Rover P6 steering lock when I hadn't  a pattern . Cost was £ 36  inc VAT for two keys including return postage for the lock as well. A lot cheaper than a new steering lock.
May be worth asking how much to produce a couple if you send them the lock

Think I will have a go at filing off the peening/swaging and getting the barrel out. I do have a spare barrel (with key!) so if I damage the barrel getting it out, it wont be the end of the world.
