OK, one of our organizers has the OS app, and it works for him (on Apple). He says:

1. Download file and open it - looks like gibberish
2. Then tap export (box with arrow top right).
3. Select OS app logo
4. Shows route, tap import then name the route.

Not so easy as that !

With what do we download and open the .gpx in ???

In the OS app there is an import .gpx option - this does not work - except with the LR Rally BANES E 220504.gpx files.
The others won't load, so I wonder what's different with these others ?
(All of James's 6d Handley maps and the Ripon maps were imported straight off.)

Does he mean we open the .gpx file in a text file reader such as Notebook where there is no export option.
I used "Save As" and that didn't work.

Some screen shots of the process would help - because if I am struggling, others certainly will be too.

I realise there's a problem - hoping to resolve it.

Someone else in our group downloaded and opened them without a problem.

Apparently on the phone 'open it' gives the option to export it.

I've had a play on the Ordnance Survey web page - by removing the waypoints, I've imported it. Sending you the files via email Alan - I can't put them on the forum.

I can confirm that I have successfully managed to open Tim's modified files.

Not sure what happened there, but we have proved that it wasn't a problem with OS. It was something to do with the files. Maybe the number of waypoints?

I found that by stripping out the waypoints, the files loaded into the OS desktop application.

I have to assume that the app doesn't like waypoints.

One thing I noticed was that the direction of travel seemed to be missing from the OS app.

Please check.

For information, BANES east is travelled clockwise, the other two anticlockwise.

Investigations today found a large tree down on one of the lanes, other minor trees down we were able to clear. As such, a new gpx will be made for the Shepton Mallet loop. Watch this space.

Waypoints aren't used in the gpx we produced, it's just a track. Just tried it in OS and it works.

Just downloaded them with no issues to a proper, if a little elderly GPS, a Garmin Oregon 450.

Looking forward to using them :-)
