Something strange there. Tailboard has no hinges, and is sitting on the crossmember.
...it's a long story, but basically the rear of the chassis is straight and doesn't dip down like it should to allow the tub to sit properly!

I can post an update on this thread.
On the previous page is a photo of my, then recently acquired, P38 Range Rover.

A lot has happened to it since then such as...
Clean and underseal the underside, transmission oil change, engine oil change, new rocker cover gaskets, new inlet manifold gasket, sump resealed, new swivel ball joints, new track rod end, brakes rebuilt, new brake pipes throughout, headlining retrimmed, a second hand set of wheels and tyres fitted, replacement window switch pack, two new air springs, air suspension compressor rebuild, new suspension bushes, used side steps fitted, used mudflaps fitted, etc. etc.....

Happy to say she passed an MOT last week with the only advisory being a small nick in the side wall of one tyre and one of the rear seatbelt buckles had a missing cover, replacement now sourced and fitted.

Still think I have a bit of play in the steering but she has turned into quite a nice vehicle for not a lot of money.

The P38A Range Rover, once everybody's dog, is definitely finding its own fan base as they become classics.

However in my opinion the true Classic, once the drug baron's wheels, is the most beautiful of all Range Rover incarnations.

However, I might be biased.

I agree...
I've had 35 of them and 2 P38As...
Don't ask - I've had the therapy and I'm over it now.

I’ve always fancied a V8 LSE, I’ve just looked at second hand prices. Wow!

I used to own a 1993 black Range Rover LSE.
Was as it should be as well, 4.2 engine and air suspension.

That was by far the nicest Range Rover I've owned and another one I really wish I hadn't sold. I Replaced it with a 1997 P38 Autobiography that has custom interior, wheels, Playstation 2, three TV screens, Wireless headphones for the rear seat players etc. etc.
That was also a lovely vehicle but I did miss the LSE

Can see the LSE hiding in the background of the first image and the Autobiography P38A is the second one.

My most missed one is my CSK... In fact I think its my most missed LR of all time.

Maybe we should create a new thread for long lost favourites?

The CSK was a thing of beauty....
