Series 3 heater duct alternative
« on: September 16, 2021, 04:55:32 PM »

Has anybody found a good alternative for the air hose that goes from the blower to the heater matrix?

They're £20 new and my parts list is already far too expensive!

Thanks

It's a thought and not sure of diameter. What about the ducting that clothers dryers have. Not sure if you can get in black though. I know some owners use vacuum cleaner hoses for the demister parts.

This was my initial thought - but they are 100mm or 4 inch. Would be hard to find a suitable reducer. There must be some other commercial ducting a similar size. Of course I forgot to measure the hole while I was down with the land rover!

Found out it's around 86mm. Could use the tumbler ducting and put a strip of foam round the holes I guess

Never thought of that ducting stuff, good choice though if it fits. I managed to pick up a good second hand one for £10 from an Austin Mini. It's the same part number.

85mm works a treat  :first

half the price for 3 times the amount.
