Was that the straight bit?

Didn't Telford do the Welsh bit?

The straight bit was called Watling Street I think. I don't think the Romans reached Wales did they? I'm no historian, failed O level history miserably.
And my CLR hasn't arrived yet.

I don't think the Romans reached Wales did they?

They most certainly did!  As the Druids on Anglesey found to their cost, as they were exterminated by them. At least the Romans came to “an accommodation” with the very warlike Silurians in South Wales - or so I believe……

Happy to be corrected on my dodgy grasp of the Roman occupation……..

Sadly not yet Alan! It’s languishing in the mailbox at home 450 miles away until next Sunday.

Hence the wandering aimlessly off topic. Apologies to all……..

Yes Friday or Saturday. What ever day this post was started. We have a griddle pan like in the Camp Kitchen article(p26). Ideal for making toasted sandwiches.
ps i do like this meandering roman thread too.

In Pompei the tracks of the carts have worn groves in the paving and they are 4ft 8½" wide.

Make of that what you will ...

 :chuff

Was that not to do with something about the size of the Space Shuttle and the width of two horse's rear ends?

Correct - the size of the rocket boosters was limited to the size of the track they were moved on from Utah.

And I still haven't read the magazine...!

One page at a time  :coffee

The photograph on page 67 shows the stunning aqueduct above the river Dee. Built by no other than Thomas Telford already mentioned here by our own Herald1360.

Alan did you also know that aqueduct's were invented by the Romans, that's something else they did for us  :thud
