Usually Yorkshire area members camp at Jervaulx Abbey for the Summer Pudding Run in mid-June and drive some of the longer green lane routes in the Dales. This year we have expanded the event to create a Northern Gathering, a joint social weekend for The Land Rover Series 2 Club and The Land Rover Series One Club.
Northern Gathering, 17th to 19th June, Ripon Race Course
Both clubs will share the center of the course at Ripon for the weekend with the plan being to use it as a base for groups to head into the Dales green laning or sight-seeing and spend two relaxed evenings socializing.
There are 50 pitches for each club to use with one caravan or tent plus two vehicles per pitch at a cost £8.25 per night. This will be payable IN CASH ON ARRIVAL at Ripon. The venue's bathroom facilities will be open, fires are allowed in contained fire pits that do not damage grass, dogs on leads are welcome but there are no electric hook-ups. We plan to use the outdoor portico seating area for the evenings where there will be some barrels of hand-pulled local beer with an honesty box.
The camping field will be open from 9.30am on Friday 17th if you want to arrive early and head out for a drive straight away. We can help you choose easy or tough green lane routes, point you towards interesting places to visit and will also arrange a visit to the Wensleydale Heritage Railway.
If the idea of a joint weekend sounds interesting you can contact myself or the Series One Club Yorkshire Area Organizer, Mark Strangways to reserve a place. Please contact me at
