Mine arrived today.  Mabel looks good and with the ioe 4 cylinder engine, unfortunately not the original one.

Nice story of a Station Wagon rescue. And although the article sub-headline says "Everyone loves a barn-find tale" it had actually been left outside in the Scottish weather for ten years and the chassis & bulkhead were rotten but everything else was as it should be and in "surprisingly good condition".

It gives the impression that Mable would have had a IOE engine, which I found strange for an Aug 58 (and therefore 59 MY) given that my Number 6 has it's original engine but a 151 variety

Were the 88s different to the 109s ?

Yes,  my June/July built August registered 88 should have an IOE  engine a d I am in the process of building one.  It needs to be done for next year for the 65th anniversary of the S2 celebrations

The IOE surplus were only fitted to 88s the 109s had the OHV 2.25 fitted from the start of S2 production
