I agree I doubt the design has the correct bearings for this. Can you not put the milling cutter in the lathe chuck and hold the workpiece in the tool holder?

Thanks glen. Good thought.
I did have a unimat 3 with vertical post and mill attachment. It's was pretty good actually and the biggest job was to true up a trailer hub. I mounted it on a stub to rotate it.

Also,
Consider this one from Screwfix (I just bought one) - it gets good reviews, though only 350W, but for what i need it for its ideal.
If you are used to 'proper' machine shop pillar drills, you may be disappointed though!!
