Back to the beginning. I have now seen an email explaining some of the circumstances which led to the delays etc. it stated that a person was killed on the railway near to Ludlow. It was before The Dutchess came along, and was not involved. Tornado was miles south of Hereford at that time.

Heard from the father-in-law.  He said they can get the white/grayish smoke by adjusting the 'Johnson bar' when it's not pully heavy loads or accelerating.  They don't do it often evidently.
