Continued removing everything needed in order to pull the gearbox. After considering a manual lift for a while we decided that , me with a dodgy back and assistant ( father in law ) with a combined age of 136 it would be too much for us so I ordered a crane !

Fitted my homemade heavy duty steel tailgate and wheel carrier, test drove it no rattles and it stayed on , happy days, all reversible with a couple of spanners , all parts retained,

Went out for a play in my one ton frankenstein monster. Such a shame I had to ditch the original env's for portals and the original 6 cylinder petrol  for a Cummins. Oh and the original gearbox for one out of a lorry. To get sufficient steering lock, I had to chop chunks out of the footwells and the chassis to stop the tyres rubbing. As you can also see there are chunks cut out of the bonnet on both sides too to give the tyres a bit of clearance.

Charged the battery and about to head out for a 5mile radius run.  Looking forward to tomorrow when we get to drive anywhere for leisure or recreation.

Broke a brake adjuster tonight.... was seized solid and tried to grip the adjuster with mole grips and snapped it right off. Ordered new ones from Paddocks.

Drove to the swimming pool in Amersfoort to swim a few lengths and picked up groceries at the Lidl on the way back. Still amazed at the improvement in ride quality since the advent of Rangemasters. Drives like a Rolls. A Rolls Rover ;-) I've never driven a Rolls, so what do I know…

Mine drives like a Rolls Canardly, rolls down hills but can hardly get up them.
