I dont like underseal but that stems from years ago running old cars wherewater got behind the underseal and caused rot that you couldnt see.

The chassis on YOD is painted and along with the Romahome has been treated with Lanoshield so we will see how they go.  When the Romahome went for its MOT recently the tester commented about it being treated with wax underneath.

I think that this is the train of thought from the mot tester that it can hide stuff. So I'll wire brush anything loose and then I'll give it a good coat of paint.

If you think about it ... it's no different to a modern car, with their plastic under trays and wheel arch liners ???

The MoT can't see what's behind them.

Had a fun weekend setting up, then 'competing' in a Tyro with the Red Rose Land Rover Club. Limped the two miles home with a misfire, changed the carb over and all is now well.
Apologies to Jon for setting the section where he bent his bumper  :red-tool-box

Injectors removed and taken to be serviced, another bill on top of the rocker shafts that I ordered for the spreadbore engine, the management is complaining.

Replaced the 'tired & nasty' rear loadspace mat on my 88" with . . .

A custom-made cocomat (Cocomats.com).  When I acquired the vehicle in January '22 I don't think the vehicle had had a proper clean for twenty years with its previous owners.  The existing rubber loadspace mat had practically fused itself to the truck bed plating . Not only was it a lousy fit - it was rubber-glove nasty.  As with all my previous British cars - I'm a big fan of cocomats so I thought I would spring for a nice heavy duty one.  pics attached:

Havent done anything but the spreadbore lower rocker shafts arrived today from Blanchards, genuine new old stock still in their Rover packaging and a message from Rob Maude to say that he has got my flat apron with galvanised strip,  Really good birthday presents.

Day off? you are joking, this morning we had to go and look after our 3 year old grandson, our was bitten by something yesterday and his arm swelled up overnight and was very painful and his partner had to got to work.  Son was at home all afternoon with grandson but has had to return to hospital as his arm has become more painful but the other grandad is onduty until partner gets home from work.  this was supposed to be a relaxing day!!  the arm looks pretty nasty actually the area round the bite just below his elbow is about two and a half times as big as normal

Yikes. Well, a day off the Landies anyway. I had one yesterday and really needed it. Hope the grandson's bite sorts itself out quickly.

Local test drive after dragging it out the garage and working out what is still left to sort….a few niggles but it’s come on a fair way since I bought it off a forum member in 2022.

Still need to paint the front panel!

Had a run down to Shelsley Walsh for the Lucas Classic on my Land Rover's 56th birthday. Ran into several club members there and had a relaxing day followed by a drive back along the valley home.

I went underneath with a scraper etc to attend to the fuel tank. It has surface rust in various places and more appeared as I scraped off the black under seal which has been there since I got it. Damped it down and applied Fertan rust converter to all the bits I could get to. I’ll go back and apply Dinitrol when I get time as I have some in the garage.

What does anyone else use for rust / underbody protection ?

Regards Andy

Currently cleaning up the bits that make up the handbrake. Also sorting out the clutch.. I feel like the 9" is the way to go.
I'll certainly use the original flywheel & housing. I'll purchase new Flywheel ring, and clutch components as well.

Started it up, drove out the shed, gave it a look over, drove back into shed....
