Hi,
Barbara was placing a grocery order, a few minutes ago, by telephone. All done and dusted, apart from paying.
Her credit card was refused because it was issued by a different supermarket. Not a problem, (other than having to rummage for her other cards, while in bed), but it could have been.
Questions ... can they do that? ... is it the thin edge of the wedge?

Hi,
My mate Bill, in the Swansea Valley used to run a Ford Thames 15cwt van. When he tried to register it in his name, he was asked for the chassis number. He took the easy option, and invented a number, which saved him the bus fare home and back again. Years passed, and DVLC invented "VED EXEMPTION". Great .... provided your vehicle complied with DVLC's "BIG BOOK OF STAMPED NUMBERS" (I've only ever seen one copy of that book). He seemed to have got over that hurdle, but I don't know how. Over the years, Bill replaced the 1700cc (?) Consul based engine with a 2553cc Zodiac engine (from which he claimed 100mph. Hmmmm!), and hacked of the back half of the body, and replaced if with a huge aluminium "biscuit tin". Only a few years ago, a then member (maybe still), living in the Swansea Valley, took a photo of this van, which I believe has been retired, and replaced with a Matchless and sidecar. 602 |

Hi.
Many yonks ago, I read a sci-fi story where the hero went looking to find the basis for the sole source of synthetic meat. He found that earlier research had found that the the most suitable meat for humans, was .... human flesh. 602 PS ... AKA ... "Long pig". |

Just gruesome theatre or could it be a foretelling of our own future where, once again, science fiction becomes reality I`ll let you decide while you enjoy your Sunday roast ....no need to worry about good old Soylent Green, they're presently making fake beef in labs from cow cells and can 3d print fake fish fillets from lab grown fish cells for our future delectation....along with the powdered cricket that they are planning to put in flour the future is looking mighty dystopian to say the least.... I'm so glad I live in the middle of nowhere and can graze on bambi burgers and local veg, far from any ulez zones, cctv's or other such modern annoyances....and my only motors are old Landys that have no electronics to further complicate matters should said dystopia ever surface on this fair isle of ours! |

After finding the previous battery had leaked and created a lovely crystallised mess, I took the opportunity this evening to clean up and paint the battery box.

When I had a 5 Bearing S3 it was the first my local LR dealer had come across and they remarked how quiet it was compared with a 3 bearing one
