accessing replies!!
« on: March 01, 2022, 10:14:39 AM »

Hi everyone,
posted a question yesterday, and am keen to find out the response(s) - but HOW????
Sorry, bit of a newbie to forums, they do seem to work in a mysterious way?
My query was in "What did you do with your Landie today" (sic)

Your post/question is reply #35 HERE

Basically if you want to install an alternator and have the benefits that brings, a much greater output, you need to change to negative polarity.
Alternators are made to run on negative earthing.

The old dynamo was restricted to 22 amps, this just about managed back in the day.
But if you run upgraded headlights and have other electrical accessories the dynamo can't keep up with demand, more so in winter when you drive with the lights on for more of the time.
And quite a few accessories will only work with a negative earth - insulating and shielding them (if you can) is a right pain.

You will find all vehicles today run with negative earth.

Another way to find your recent post is to look at the "Summary" in your Profile - found in the top menu bar.

The quickest way is to hit "Show new replies to your posts" or "Show unread posts since last visit", both Top Left of the page.

Keeps the number of things to read manageable !

Or 'Show new replies to your posts' at the top left of the page. Only works if someone has replied!

Very top line - extreme right under the Land Rover icon ~ click the symbol
