Post by: Chunky020 on June 14, 2020, 05:39:34 PM
following an epic 7 and a 1/2 hour round trip yesterday from the Bishops Waltham to Clacton on Sea in the 2a, I can report there is likely to be a petrol shortage in the southeastern counties over the next couple of days

£125 of her majesty finest, but the old girl got me there and back with the only issue a blowing exhaust downpipe 20 miles from home should add the return journey I was towing 550 kg

Just as well that I run on LPG too When that runs out too, I always thought that a series would be an ideal vehicle for a woodgas conversion; if you look at the photo below and imagine a truck cab with the generator in the tub.

That works out to around 6.5 MPG. Pretty average for a 6 pot?   :whistle

Hi,

Some years ago, I set off with a full tank in my S1 bodied 88" on an S3 Marsland chassis, towing an S1 109 on my trailer.

During the journey, I emptied and brimmed the tank three times, and arrived home with an empty tank. I make that a "nominal" forty gallons, for a smidgen over 400 miles. The snow on the mountains was a bonus.
