An option would be to make a step up gearbox that goes between cable and gearbox drive but would probably be too expensive and complicated.

Hi,

Barbara's Triumph Stag had a 90 degree bevel-box between the gearbox and speedo cable. I don't know if the same bevel-box was fitted to other big Triumphs.' or even if her's was a one off.

Can anybody find a piccy of this device, showing how it was fitted? even better if they know the gear ratio, and whether other ratios were available.

Modern cars seem to use some sort of generator and volt-meter (?) to move the speedo needle (My Peugeot frequently read 100mph plus, while in third gear ... most disconcerting). Could such a system be cobbled onto an S2?

Ah - the electric speedometer!  Had one on the XJ6 - and wondered one day why it seemed a bit sluggish at an indicated 60 or so.  Looked at the rev counter - bit over 4000 RPM - about 110MPH.  Thing had a dicky connection somewhere!

Hi

Try a Google for ....

EBAY ANGLE DRIVE 120694 to get images ... scroll across page to get better pics. I have seen this item, today, listed at £39.

I assume the gear ratio is 1:1. Would it be viable to make something similar to suit the variations in our trucks. Or could gear cogs from another marque be a straight swap for what's inside a Landy gearbox?

Er ... I cannot find the Ebay item number on this listing, nor others. ??? Does that mean we can no longer click the EBAY logo box above?

No probs, it comes with a stick on pad to mount it, I gave the area I was putting it a good clean first with thinners and so far it’s not fallen off :)

Hi,

Can anybody here develop a cross between a "wireless" clock, impulsed by a sender on a bicycle wheel, and the same device "impulsed" by a sender, if driven by the speedo take-off on the side of the gearbox?

What's the relationship between tyre TPM and speedo cable TPM? Managable?

Can anybody tell us how modern "sans cable" speedos work?
