« on: December 19, 2020, 10:26:11 AM »

Hello team- does this Perkins 2.25 Diesel engine have a value? I drove it into the garage - it’s complete (with a radiator), which I’ve taken off- am replacing it with 200TDI , purchased from another member( yet to collect -Covid!!!) I’m just outside Exeter-Devon

A possible indication may be to search e-bay to see what other Perkins 2.25 diesels have been sold for.

Not worth much unless people can see or hear it running.
Owners of engines could be economical with the truth as to past running condition.
And so, unless you can prove it's a brand new rebuilt engine from a reputable engine restorer - it's not worth that much.

I thought it had been determined this is actually a Perkins 4203 3.3l Diesel?  HERE

If you're looking for a value, that's what you should be looking for on ebay etc. and what you should be advertising it as, I think   :tiphat

You can only put a price on something if it is described correctly so that folk know what they are buying.

Is there any need to put a value on it if you want rid? It clearly isn't worth a huge amount so list it on eBay with a fair description and let the buyers decide its value.

I sold off a Perkins a few years ago that was bought by a chap in Northern Ireland (I think) who owned a haulage company and his hobby was restoring Perkins engines to sell to the vintage tractor community, sadly I no longer have his contact info. I seem to recall it made around £90, and hadn't run for about 10 years previously, but was sound otherwise.

Oh the joy of getting that engine into the back of a 7.5 tonne wagon with no tail lift.... :Popeye
