Got a text from a friend today. It was a link to a Screwfix offer. If you filled in a simple questionnaire, you won a prize of a DeWalt drill set. All you had to do was to provide 20 contacts. Easy eh, drills for nothing. Got me.
So I gave them over 30 contacts (who would be interested in this offer). Each one was immediately sent the same offer. So on the Screwfix checker I had only supplied 60% of the needed contacts, so I stopped.
This reminds me of pyramid selling, with no sale, just contact details gathered. There were testimonials from happy people who had got a free drill. These were probably fakes. I would bet that nobody actually got the free drill for 20 contacts.    A legal con out in the open.

In fact beware of any link that begins with ‘tinyurl’ - it can hide something nasty.👍

Interesting...

Back when I was documenting the various restoration projects on our house Dewalt contacted me.  They gave me a complete drill set combo with a lot of bits and an extra battery.  All that they asked was I create a post about the tools and give an honest review.

Freebies from outdoor clothing suppliers.
But the De-Walt offer mentioned above is indeed SPAM. I had similar one from BnQ. Though I quite partial to Spam sandwich with brown sauce !
Screwfix did have an offer in store for Erbauher 18v gun with spare battery and carry case £79.

Indeed, it's a scam, just interesting I hadn't heard about it by now. But, once in a while the real deal does pop up!
