Sounds excellent and if the North West has it in June then perhaps? it could venture across to the Northern Gathering and then up to Phil in the Borders? I think that would fit in?

Benton, an anagram of bonnet?
So when the Bonnet, making a bid for Freedom disappears into the distance would we be calling ''BENTON, BENTON.......BENTON!

So how is this going to be organised? is it upto the area reps to put the word out among members, or do members approach the area reps? I'm in the north Wales area but it seems pretty quiet, and anything that does happen is much further north.

I'd like to be involved with the bonnet challenge, I have some ideas on places it could go and it will also give me a deadline to have one of my projects completed!

So Matt, I am cooking up a plan to see whether I can link the Bonnet up with members in the ROI and NI, which at some stage I think would go through Abermaw. Be great to get an image on the Bridge over the Mawddach Estuary.
The aim is that as many people as possible are involved but in terms of organising, the AR or their designate will need to co-ordinate activities and fit within the Timeschedule.

If the bonnet makes its way over to NI, and assuming my Land Rover is actually on the road by then (undergoing a tub floor replacement, fitting of proper station wagon side-window panels and a respray) I'd be delighted to be involved, and think that getting a photo near "Samson & Goliath" at the Harland & Wolff ship yards in Belfast would be wonderful.

As you know, Northern Ireland and Land Rovers have a very sadly coloured history, so it would be lovely to show the province in a more peaceful light. Expressed as a very gentle plea, if we didn't have union jacks on the bonnet, that would be fantastic.

Totally get that. I have an aversion to the flag anyway as it is not wholly inclusive. On collection I might have a can of Brake fluid handy just in case! (calm down James, only kidding)
I've spoken to Gerald who is up for it, I'm proposing a road trip by a Gang of 3 LRs crossing Holyhead-Dublin then locating near Drogheda, then meeting up with NI Crew. So many options, I like Samson and Goliath, and whilst it might be a struggle, the Causeway would be bosting. Just need to get the timings right!

A big thanks to all involved in the charity bonnet trip and photos taken at the home of The Dunsfold LandRover collection. A big thank you to Simon at The Rover Social for putting us in contact with Gary, Phil Bashalls right hand man. And to Phil for sweeping The NPS official photographer literally off her feet with his Cherry picker.

She’s in Kent now, had a run around Ashford Canterbury & Faversham last weekend and a big day out at Margate yesterday.

I have a pair of 'bling' custom stainless S2 bonnet hinges that came off an old bonnet I had, and I would think this bonnet a worthy custodian of said hinges. They do however require an extra hole to be drilled. I'll dig them out and get a pic!
