I've just collected my rebuilt transfer box from Whiteheads - cracking service turned it around in less than a week. It's had new genuine transfer gear and large gear as they were burnt out by previous owners not running oil in the box. They also managed to salvage my Roamerdrive - thank god, otherwise it could have got very expensive.

Dragged my abandoned project out of the nettles in the hope of finding some time in the near future to get cracking on it.

Unfortunately most of the work done already needs redoing as it's been stored outside and uncovered.

As with any image of a rolling chassis, my eye is drawn irresistibly to the fixings of the steering relay.
Perhaps understandably, these images often show the bolts have been inserted the wrong way round, with the bolt heads to the front, rather than the rear.
Positioned 'bolt head forwards', if the relay has to be removed for any reason, the bolts will hit the radiator panel before they clear the brackets on the cross member. Cue some inventive removal method practices, even on a LHD model.

Regards.

This evening I fitted the new flat apron after removing the winch, like the simpler, more original look even if the red paint shows up how orange the rest of it is.
What’s folk’s thoughts on the fog lamps, keep them or try make them look more period?
Hoping your all well
Regards Chris

Great looking beast. Would rubbing compound or polishing bring the red out more?

I'd leave the top lamp - adds to the history and individuality, but I'd probably lose the rectangular lower ones or replace with period as you suggest  :cheers

Refitted newly serviced injectors, discovered that the garage that looked after it for the PO (my friend) had missed out 2 of the crush washers that go between the end of the nozzle and the head when they built the engine.  All ne washers fitted
Sounds much better, will go for a drive tomorrow

Took a couple of lads to their prom. Made a pleasant change from the usual high end German rubbish.

After yesterdays refitting of the injectors I took YOD for a drive today, actually it was a tip run with a load of garden stuff.

Much quiter and smoother and a noise that sounded like a tappet has gone.  (The guy that serviced the injectors did say that there was a broken spring inside one).

On checking when home i had a bit of a leak where the pipe screws onto no 1 injector, i managed to nip it up but i have bought a new pipe.

Interesting as I found 2 different current numbers for the pipe, descriptions for both say that they fit S2 and S3 one from my S2 parts book and one from my S3, the engine is a 5mb imperial engine so I have gone with the number from the S3 parts book.
