I did wonder if it varied depending on destination market, but if its uk or home market brochure then that theory is a non starter.

As it happens, I think the brochure I looked at is a generic publicity brochure for Land Rover from I think about 1979 / 1980. The image shows a left hand drive, so its possible that its an image of an export model. I work with Land Rovers all over the world and I've never seen the lights this way round, but I'm wondering if its an image from a North American publicity shot. They always have had different lighting regs. from the rest of the planet...

Only thing is that I don't think Land Rover sold Series vehicles in North America after the very early 1970s

The tow vehicle had Irish plates so guess it was off to Ireland.

I didn’t notice that but have just looked up the two names on the side of the car and it shows them and the car as an entry in the Irish Racing Green’s Shamrock Vintage Car Rally. Looks quite challenging.

It is because of the American lighting regulations of the late sixties that the indicators go at the bottom (they required a larger diameter lamp). As I understand some of the old hands on the line who were used to the military set up would put the indicators at the top. Look at the 1969 publicity photos for late style 11a's and you will see the same  :stars

Spotted today in Last Of The Summer Wine.
In a howling continuity error, Wesley's 88" turned from a 3 to a 2, within five minutes of the same episode.
