Hi All,
Classic bulkheads, currently have my bulkhead in for the usual repairs since January this year. The issue is that I’ve been trying to contact them for an update since May with no luck. >:D

* Phone - been ringing them weekly and it just rings out (07855539224)
* Facebook messenger - no response
* email - no response

Does anyone have any other contact information for them?


Plan B, would be to drive round and hope that they are still there? Buts that’s a big pain and expense when I live over 2 hours away  >:D  >:D


Greg, I have a number for the son Anthony, I have sent you a PM. I had similar issues with them last year, excellent work but dismal when it comes to communication.

I'm not sure the reason for the stencil has been fully established, but a line number seems the most plausible theory so far.

As an aside, most (all?) earlier blocks have a casting date on them in the format of day, month, year. This is a useful way of determining whether an engine is likely original to the vehicle it's fitted in.

This date is extremely difficult to see when the engine is in the vehicle and the manifolds are fitted, but a decent phone camera can help.

In my view, people are quite right to be wary given past history. We have had a collapse of one bulkhead outfit in Southampton in the last couple of years which I know left a lot of people out of pocket in one way or another. We have also had issues as is well documented with Pegasus. In the case of the Southampton "outfit", I just got a Defender bulkhead out from them by the skin of my teeth before they collapsed and others were not so lucky. Had I known then, I would not have even tried them.
Pegasus is still running after Paul's tragic and premature death. Debbie has made great efforts to get things back on track and is still very much trading.

The underlying issue here seems to be of poor communication and delayed delivery times. I don't actually accept the argument that small busy businesses are really great but are too busy to take the time to communicate with existing clients. That's just poor service and they should be held to account for it.

If Classic Bulkheads are still trading and this is all a flash in the pan, all well and good. Please keep us updated on what you find out. If anybody is able to stop round and check and confirm that all is well, that would be really helpful - especially as I couldn't access their website this morning (although I am overseas at the moment, so it might have been blocked).

Can anyone tell me why my 1963 2.25 engine has got the number 875 stancilled on the block in cream number plate sized letters?.Engine colour is a silver/grey on the outside and cream on the inside.Engine number is 25142320C.Thanks.

Exactly as said by someone in the thread just linked, they are a one man and mate outfit in a ramshackled couple of garages, with poor business and communication skills BUT there stuff is good - I had footwells and pillars from them. When I collected my stuff from them I got the impression they did it because they enjoyed it. I hope in your case it’s just they’ve taken on too much work rather than anything else.

I'm on the fence regards electric but that Electric Defender on Top Gear recently looked a lot of fun when it out accelerated those sports cars.
Think it did a 4 second 0-60 which has got to be entertaining.  :first

There is a myth that you can simply pump hydrogen in a standard engine and it will run fine, that is far from the case.
Hydrogen is a pretty poor combustible. Look at the Hindenburg airship disaster film and you will see that it burnt really quite slowly. If that same airship had been filled with a petrol and air mix the same as your engine uses, it would have exploded in milliseconds and bits of it would have landed miles away, not all in the same field in a twisted heap.

I looked recently at a car that uses a hydrogen fuel cell to generate electricity. It drives just like an electric car but generates its own power and can be re-fuelled in a matter of minutes. It sounded very attractive and the figures all added up but how many hydrogen filling stations do you think there are in the UK, 14 of them, none near me either....

I have been fortunate enough to drive an electric vehicle and if I was offered one, I'd jump at it. They are very smooth, quiet and generally really nice things to drive. I just don't drive one as they aren't that cheap to buy yet. My 12 year old Toyota keeps going as well but maybe one day I'll change and get one for the work commute.
