Morning all.
I've made a new clutch lever operating shaft, my original was slightly worn!
The painted steel in one of the photographs came from the old Isle of Grain oil refinery.
Originally it was about six foot in length. In the thirty five plus years I've owned it, it's been used on various custom motorcycles, and now It seems the last of it will be used on my Land Rover.

I did all the fabrication.
I didn't do the welding (the prettiest part ) a friend did that (Steelheart Engineering). An absolutely fantastic fabricatior, builds motorcycle swingarms and frames.

Wow! I’m always in awe of people who are ‘makers’. It looks fantastic, how long does it take you to make something like this?

During the week Misty gained another twelve months MOT certificate, after making sure the headlights were correctly aligned. I knew they were out beforehand after i put in the boomslang wiring for them. Other than that all good, left with the mechanic so he can fit a new sump seal. Easier for him with a four post ramp then me on the floor.

Andy, you missed the chance to ge5 nasty smelly dirty oil down your sleeve and arm.  I hope he is changing the oil whilst he is dropping the sump

Yes I debated with myself for days over getting the oil down my sleeve. Eventually i tossed a coin best of three. And i'm afraid the job went to the mechanic. I've left him with 6ltr of halfords classic oil and a new oil filter.

Spent hours trying to bleed the brakes on my almost complete 109 rebuild. All new components. Eventually figured out the new master is faulty as once pressed the piston sticks at the bottom and does not return. Sole destroying removing the pedal box and undoing piping ect. Now got several scratches and chips to the new paint work as a permanent reminder.  >:(

Somewhat OT but as we are still in Lockdown and the Forest is still closed I'm getting hacked off with the stream of people driving up the track, past the "Locked Gate Ahead" and "No Unauthorised Vehicles" signs trying to get into the Forest, especially when they come away with lame excuses like "I'm lost" or " I didn't see any signs".  Todays experiment, putting an "A" Board in the middle of the track so they actually have to stop and physically move it....  some clown will doubtless try exactly that.

Hi  :tiphat today I have put a fillet of rubber in the bonnet hinges as I noticed last time I was out there was a slight vibration, now dealt with  ;) also noticed that when starting out first thing i have to fully lock the steering to get out and have noticed a clonk so this morning swmbo came out and replicated it for me and am rather embarrassed to say that two of the steering box bolts were loose  :-[ tightened them up and it solved that, I’m annoyed with myself for this  :-\ but it’s sorted now, also fitted a folding table to my rear door which got the thumbs up from swmbo  :cheer Paul

Gene a chain across with the no entry sign hung on it so that they can't move it.

I'm with you on this one Peter. Or one of those stingers across the track without a no entry sign  :whistle

What sort of fillet did you use? The "slight vibration" on my bonnet is more of a leaping about :) I've tightened the striker pin a bit but there is a lot of play in the hinges. I thought maybe a bit of old fanbelt, trimmed.
I think there should be a washer and split pin too

Hi Paul4978  :tiphat you’re right there should be a washer and split pin also, all I did was cut a small length of fuel pipe then sliced it lengthways so it could be opened out and then gradually cut it lengthways until it would fit in and then replaced the original washer and put in a new splitpin and job done no more rattling/vibration 👍
