Supplier of self-adhesive rocker cover gaskets (petrol)
« on: August 08, 2021, 04:33:35 PM »

Afternoon all,
As per title.
Does anyone know where these can still be obtained? I have just used my last one (I have no idea where I got it from as it has been in stock for yonks!)
I have done a quick search around the net using part number ETC6439 but can't see anything that specifically says they are sticky on one side.
I know not essential but by god they make the job a bit easier!
Anyone?
cheers

The Genuine LR ones used to be self adhesive, but I haven't bought one from JLR for yonks. The gaskets supplied by Britpart / Allmakes are definitely not self adhesive - I've just checked my stock. If it helps, I prepare a dry clean rocker cover with a light smear of Loctite SI 5890 black silicone sealant. Its also available under LR part number STC50550. Its a high quality very sticky sealant used for sumps, diffs etc on later LRs and seals really well. I lay the gasket on a clean surface and place the rocker cover on top of it and let the sealant cure for a few hours. It sticks well and can take a few on / offs for tappet adjustment etc. quite happily.

Interesting idea.
I have tried before adding a bit of grease etc to ‘make a better seal’ but rarely worked as the gasket squeezes out.
I guess the key point is to glue down and leave to set.

Glue to the rocker cover and a smear of grease on the side that touches the head
