Yes it appears you can get away with a difference of 3 degrees between drive members according to Spicer, which is what the wedges create, so I guess they've thought of that.

There's a video illustrating the extremes here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Idk3BVDVHq4

Hi,

Ideally, the axle pinions should be parallel to prop-shaft. the gearbox main shaft (both horizontal would be nice).

Conversely I've read that ideally there should be a small angle between the axle shaft and the propshaft, in order to ensure movement inside the joint. If everthing was parallel there would be no movement so no spread of lubricant, and wear spots would develop.

Here's a couple of pics for those interested. First shows how far away the prop is from reaching the diff, pre alterations.

The second is a 4mm spacer on the gearbox mounts. Could only get one there, as the mounts are angled and any more prevented it lining up. This 4mm at the gearbox gave more than that at the diff end.

Here the wedges and the amount of clearance under the prop. Just! Will be ok after tub is on and fuel tank full and I've pelted round the farm with a tonne of tree in the back.

See how long the aluminium wedges last.

Loading the vehicle so that the prop doesn't touch things is all very well, but what happens on the rebound or when the load is removed. "Just clearance" doesn't allow much for movement surely?

Indeed, but jacking from the chassis currently gleans little to no drop out, so that is probably the lowest it will go.

I suspect they will settle a bit too. In other words that's as much as I'm going to do to it!
