If you are a fan of the One Ten and Ninety, you will have become bored to death with everybody and his dog calling them Defenders.

Land Rover didn't.

Even when Defender was introduced they still scrupulously issued Manuals etc, with One Ten, Ninety and Defender differentiated.

It is only "marketing" people who will use any word they think will work to their advantage - with scant regard to accuracy.


I long ago gave up listening to anyone who was involved in "marketing " anything.

Or taking anything they said, as gospel.
