We'd call No 25  a small version of "Tools, Infantry, adjusting".

Actually that small hammer has 2 very useful jobs on a Land Rover besides hitting things.

1) The wedge end is just the right size to lever off the hub end cap without marking or putting a dent in the rim.

2) Again, the wedge end is perfect to put against the wheel bearing locking tab and a blow from a bigger hammer bends the tab in, and you use the wedge to lever the other side of the tab outwards.

There was me thinking that 25 was called an "adjusting wrench".
Thanks for that pic btw, useful info.
Break down on a cold, dark night, and you’d be better off with an adjustable wench.

Mine did too! The idea was that the tempers match and they could shatter. :agh
If I was in charge of 30 'erbets in a school workshop, I'd say "No banging hammers!"  too !  :stars

That was my point, I was taught never hit hammers together, they can shatter explosively.

 :-[

Perhaps I should have used my copper head hammer ???

In any event for this job you don't need to take massive blows at full strength.

Exploding hammers... Now that's an interesting one. Must try it some time. I've often seen track layers on the railways putting one sledge up against a fixing and then hitting with another sledge. Never heard of them actually shattering one yet. Mind you my workshop team in Zimbabwe managed to break my anvil, so anything is possible.

Back on topic.

My kit bag arrived today.

It's a lovely item and just right for Landrovering. The repurposed tent canvas is in excellent condition and Matt's craftsmanship is real quality.

For those interested, dimensions are diameter 11" and length 30".

I'm sure I can find a reason to buy another of Matt's products :whistle

I ordered a tool roll too from Matt. Was waiting for me when i got home from work. I'm impressed with it. All ordered via a pm on here and emails. No hassle and arrived quick.
